New Garden Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

New Garden Elementary School celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month, which occurred from September 15th to October 15th. According to some research done by some enthusiastic fifth graders, the observation of Hispanic Heritage Month started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period starting on September 15 and ending on October 15.

Every grade level at New Garden, either decorated their classroom door or a section of the hallway, with something then gleaned from research about this special topic. Books were read and grade levels collaborated together to complete relevant projects. As you peruse the creativity below, you will see there was much learning and discovery going on at New Garden.
