New Garden Elementary School students, under the supervision of Mrs. Ann Bailey and Mr. Troy Harris, participated in a STEM activity as part of the Kennett Consolidated School District’s Elementary Summer Academy. The activity, called “Propeller Buggy,” asked each student to create a buggy out of balsa wood, axles, straws, and rubber bands. This week-long project involved a lot of trial and error, as well as many trips to the “repair shop” to fix broken parts.
On the last day of the Summer Academy, other classes watched the students demonstrate the propelling of the buggies. The students became invested in their creations, decorating them nicely, and future Summer Academy students were mesmerized and excited to see an activity that they may partake in the future.
The 2022-2023 school started off with many smiling faces. As soon as the first bus arrived, elated students waltzed off the buses into the hallways of New Garden Elementary School. There are many exciting things in store for the students this year. Stay tuned for more details.

Hello Fabulous New Garden Families,
This is Ms. Weaver with a message of welcome! Happy New Year!! I absolutely love this time of year! Thursday’s Sneak a Peek was well attended with so many happy and smiling faces! Our outstanding team of teachers, instructional assistants, special/related service teachers, custodians, psychologist, counselors, school nurse, interventionists, and administrative office staff have been working tirelessly in preparation for this school year, in order to meet the needs of our student population of almost 480 students. This year, we are looking forward to help ALL our students meet success, academically, socially and emotionally! Can’t wait to greet everyone in the morning. As it is the first day, please remember that buses may be a little early or late as many first pictures are being taken to mark the beginning of a memorable school year!!
Students will be permitted inside from 8:30 am- 8:45 am. All bus students will be dropped off and picked up in the front of the building using the main entrance. All students that arrive and/or leave in a car will enter the building to the left of the main entrance. Parents are asked to obey the signs that indicate “NO PARKING” along the sidewalk. Please stay in your car when you are dropping off your child in the morning. An adult will come to your car to make sure your child safely exits the car on the right, then safely onto the sidewalk so that you can drive away. If you need to enter the building with your child, please park in the parking lot to the right (marked as “Visitor parking”) and walk in with your child. There is no parking along any of the sidewalks in the front of the building so that we can keep all of our students safe.
The school begins dismissal at 3:25 pm. All students are expected to go right home or to the place designated by their parents/guardians. In case of a school emergency or early dismissal, students should know where they are supposed to go in case no one is home. Children will be dismissed as bus riders or car riders. Bus riders will exit the front of the building and enter their assigned bus. Car riders will exit from the main entrance. Parents/guardians will drive around the visitor’s parking lot and wait for their child to be escorted to their car. We ask parents/guardians to place a sign on their windshield with the student’s name, teacher, and grade. Please do not park along the sidewalk to enter the building. Please stay in your cars at all times.
