New Garden Launches Reading Olympics

New Garden Elementary School’s Librarian, Mrs. Kristi Pizzini, launched the Reading Olympics program recently to more than 100 fifth grade students who eagerly listened to summaries of the books that will be used for this year’s program. Reading Olympics is a popular event and will be the highlight of the year for many students. The program is limited to 30 students and will begin in mid-October. If chosen, students must commit to become experts of at least five books, as well as arriving a little early to school once a week to meet and discuss their readings. The culminating event is a county wide competition in late Spring.
