Fifth Grade Students Learn About the Thirteen Colonies

New Garden Elementary School fifth grade students graders have been working hard studying the thirteen original colonies. At the culmination of their study, the students selected a specific colony to conduct further research. The end result was a graphic display that showed the most important details of the chosen colony. The students evaluated their work, gave peers feedback and presented to others. It was a valuable learning experience.

Mrs. McArdle’s Writers’ Luncheon

One of the most anticipated events at New Garden Elementary School is the opportunity to attend the Writer’s Luncheon with principal Mrs. Susan McArdle. A student from every class is chosen to share their writing piece during their recess. The writing pieces range from narrative to informational. The students are always eager to share their work and offer constructive feedback to each other.

First Grade Celebrates the 100th Day of School

Completing 100 days of school is a major milestone for any student. It is especially important if you are a first grade student at New Garden Elementary School. On the 100th day of school, first grade students dressed as if they were 100 years old. The teachers joined in as well. It was a day filled with fun activities centered around the number “100.

STEM has come to first grade! On the 100th day of school, Mrs. Kimberly Hall’s first grade class worked on a variety of STEM activities with their fifth grade buddy class. It was an amazing experience to see the students constructing things and discussing their creations.

Crime Victims Center of Chester County

The Crime Victims Center of Chester County (CVC) visited New Garden Elementary School to discuss internet bullying/safety. They visited third, fourth and fifth grade classes. Topics of discussion included safe places to click on while Internet surfing, things that you should not share online, and what to do if you get an uncomfortable message while online. It was a valuable visit for the students.
