Trimesters and Measurement

Elementary Trimesters

There are three trimesters for elementary students.  Students are graded each trimester and parents can expect a report card at the end of each trimester.

  • Trimester 1 ends November 14
  • Trimester 2 ends March 6
  • Trimester 3 ends June 5

Reporting: Report Cards and Conferences

  • Unlike our secondary students (whose report cards are digital at the Skyward Family Portal), elementary progress is tracked via paper report cards that are distributed to parents three (3) times a year.
    • Parents are asked to acknowledge receipt of the report card by signing the outer envelope and returning the envelope with their student each trimester.
  • In the fall and spring, conferences are held with parents so that they might have a chance to speak to the teacher in greater depth about the progress of their child.
    • Parent conferences are held on two days in the fall and two days in the spring.
    • Interpreters are available for our non-English speaking parents.
    • School will be closed for students on Parent Teacher Conference days.
    • Parents are urged to attend the two-parent conferences and to review and respond to all of your child’s report cards.

PSSA Testing

The annual Pennsylvania System School Assessment is a standards-based, criterion-referenced assessment which provides students, parents, educators and citizens with an understanding of student and school performance related to the attainment of proficiency of the academic standards.

These standards in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science and Technology identify what a student should know and be able to do at varying grade levels. School districts possess the freedom to design curriculum and instruction to ensure that students meet or exceed the standards' expectations.

Here are the scheduled dates for PSSA testing for grades 3 - 8 in the District:

  • ELA: April 21-23
  • Math: April 27-28
  • Science: April 29 and May 1
  • Make ups: May 4-8*

*Makeups can take place within the designated PDE Window
